Hi. This is Film Cred.

Founded in 2020, we have published media criticism and analysis from over 200 writers.

Our goal is to provide new writers with in-depth feedback on their writing, a community where they can work with other writers and editors to build their skills, and a platform where they can have their work published professionally. 

We exist to give writers who are putting themselves out there a chance to develop their skills so they can have their writing published elsewhere.

Here’s some promises we’ve kept from the start.

  • We give feedback on every writing inquiry we receive, even if we don’t accept the writer’s pitch.
  • While writers are not guaranteed to be published on Film Cred, we never leave them hanging and we tell them why we’re turning their pitch down.
  • Conventional samples are not necessary. Writers can send us anything that shows us their writing ability, even a Letterboxd review.
  • A perfect first email isn’t necessary. We will follow up with questions. We will ask for samples if they’re not included at first and help the writer figure out the pitch.
  • That said, please do not send us a completed first draft before we accept your pitch. Our editing process is hands-on and it is important we work with our contributors from the initial pitch on.
  • Writers have the final say. We will not publish their work until they approve of the changes we made.
  • Once published, we pay our writers $15 USD. This rate is subject to change as we expand the website, for the better.

We are supported by our Patreon community, advertising on our website by small businesses we align with, and our merch. Everything we bring in goes directly to paying our writers, with any other expenses covered by our Editor-in-Chief.
